Default A nice surprise this afternoon

I stuck the endoscope my wife gave me for Christmas in a cylinder of my 292 c.i. and discovered its been bored 0.030. Prior to this I really had no idea of the history of the motor.

They are nice aren't they?

I would rather call them borescopes as the other name brings back bad memories ...

Did you suddenly feel all that extra Power that you didn't know you had before knowing about the .030 overbore?

I wasn't entirely sure what .030 meant in terms of displacement so I did the math and determined my 292 c.i. is now a 296 c.i. I haven't tested it out yet; it's winter here and the roads are heavily salted.

How do the cylinder walls look? Crosshatch still visible?

Humm, I didn't think to look at the cylinder walls. I was looking to determine top dead center. I'll put cylinder walls on the list for tomorrow. Thanks.

I just looks pretty clean on the piston top, at least on a smaller screen. The walls will give you an idea of the mileage, especially if you can maneuver enough to get a look for a ridge. Not a substitute for a micrometer, but more information.
