Default 49 Mercury motor angle question

Does anyone know what the factory motor angle was in the 49-51 Mercury? The angle of the carb mount pad on the stock intake is 5 degrees, which leads me to think if level carbs were a consideration, that to keep them as flat as possible, the motor and tranny would sit about 5 degrees downward in the back.
With my current flathead motor on new, stock '49 motor mounts, if I tilt the motor any farther down than 3.5 degrees, the water pumps don't set flush on top of the motor mounts and start creating a gap.

I couldn't find any specified "factory motor angle" for 49-51 Mercs in the 1949-51 Mercury Manuals. On my 51 Merc. I just install the engine on the mounts, snug it down and let it be. Don't go overboard and excessively "crush" the rubber mounts. If you do the same, I think you'll be just fine.
