Take a very close look at all the wood in the subframe, especially at the rear. This is a very difficult body style to restore. Look at the door fit. I am on my eighth year on mine but it is absolutely beautiful. Ed

Hello, don’t think it’s a sport coupe, note no visor , split on door frame, and also frame above door window area . Under $9,000 doesn’t sound bad for a starter project,If it runs and mechanically sound . Fewer made than roadsters, but more complicated too and expensive when new.

Looking a bit closer, it does have some paint problems on the splash apron and rear fender. Easy to fix. Also, the chromed top bracket over the door is exposed. There is a piece of top material that is supposed to cover this. This is a bit more of a problem trying to match the material. I think this model is a 68B. These cars have always been my favorite body style. A convertible with roll up windows. The only problem I have seen with this design is that the doors are very heavy with the glass and chrome plated frames and unfortunately Henry used only two door hinges which are too small. The pins wear quickly and then the doors sag and all too quickly the door is rubbing on the door jam. Another problem is that there isn't enough lateral support for this body design. There are no other body parts like in a sedan which stiffens things up. Also, its all wood, no steel. I would open and close the doors just to see how they behave. Also, look at door fit with both the top up and down. The top is secured to the car by a 3-way hinge which is mounted right behind the door jam. I have heard complaints about the door fits fine with the top up but is way out of alignment with the top down. I am not trying to run down this car believe me. I own a 68C, my favorite body style but it is what it is and you have to be careful. Ed

Apparently it is only fully available for viewing on FaceBook. I don’t know why people assume everyone in the world is on BookFace. Some people don’t like that company and aren’t subscribers. I’m one of ‘em. No patch on you, Ronn. Thanks for the tip.

700 you can use the marketplace and remain invisible. no need to chat, join groups etc. I sold 6 cars on there since Jan. worked out well for me........... no fees either. Never used it till this yr.
with that said, the mkt has changed abruptly in the last 6 months. Hard to sell anything now. people holding their money for food and oil........... |

Hey Ed, I bought a 68c 30 minutes from my house last Feb. The wood is original and in magnificent condition. Here in NJ. Who would have guessed?
No need to replace any of it. Car is tight. |

I don't especially like Facebook and use it very little. When I do a search this is what comes up for some reason - obviously an earlier ad with a little higher price!! Guess it pays to shop around a little on the same site!!

Hello Ronn, glad you found a good one. I had been looking for years for a slant windshield cabriolet and saw the car I bought for sale at a used car dealer at $13,500. Very unusal but the dealer took it in trade! I made a test drive, engine was strong and it had very little rust just a lot of wood rot! I figured that with a band saw and a radial arm saw, nothing could stop me. I drove it the summer of 2014 to learn about all the short comings and started the restoration in the fall of 2014. I have been working on it ever since. Many people have told me not to fall in love with a car or you will find yourself married to it! Such as it is. I hope to be driving it next summer. Good luck, Ed
