Some help please.
I have made rear fender braces based on the picture that I have got from one of the supplier's websites. Do the front fenders have a similar style of brace to stabilise the bottom outer of the fender forward of the running board? I can't find any reference to a front fender brace of this style. |

Thanks rawlir,
Would you have any parts book pictures or photos of the stabilisers? |

They are a simple steel strap with a hole at each end. Maybe 1 1/4" wide x 12 or 14 gauge thick. One end fits over a long bolt attaching the bumper bracket to the frame. The bumper bracket bolt is quite long as the bracket is set onto the bolt and a stiff coil spring is then placed over the strap, then a castelated nut. Other end goes to fender lip. I can get some dimensions and pics in the morning.

I have been contacted by Rick Rawlings (rawlir) who has explained the front fender bracing as per your description. My pickup does have the front braces forward of the wheels as described. It looks like my pickup has had some bracing added, somewhat crudely, to stabilise the bottom outer of the fenders forward of the running boards. Most likely because the fender wheel arches have seen some action and had splits also crudely welded up. I will remove these add-on braces and repair the wheel arches properly so the bracings are back to standard. |
