The one I got from Harbor Fright is basically a vacuum pump which is attached to the bleeder screw at the wheel cylinder. I would not say that it is any faster (speedier?) than the old 2 man way but it does allow you to do it by yourself.

I was referring to the bleeders that you change out on the wheel cylinders. You are suppose to be able to bleed brakes by yourself.

They are essentially check valves; one way flow.

I believe a brake bleeder canister is the easiest one man operation. The canister is partially filled with fluid and attached to the master cylinder. Then you add 6 or 8 LBS. of air pressure to the canister. Just work your way around and in a couple minutes you are done. No telling wifey when to pump and when to release. Happy happy!

Don’t attempt a speedy bleed with silicone fluid, it gets homogenized with air bubbles and you’ll always have a soft pedal.

This is what I have been using for decades. So easy and so assuring to have all of the air removed. I place 20psi on the tank and once I have bled the system, I leave the 20psi on overnight. If it remains at 20psi all night, I know there are zero leaks.

Here's a very good thread re: use of Speed Bleeders. I installed longer ones for easier access when bleeding. I never had any problems or spongy pedal with them when using DOT 5 silicone brake fluid.
