I need to troubleshoot the fuel gauge for my '37 4-door sedan. There are two covers about two inches in diameter on the floor of the trunk, would one of these access the tank sender? Thank you.

Neither one...From what I recall, there is a tongue shaped flap/access-door that covers the sending unit...
I think I see it, partially covered by carpet, on the bottom right side of your "L" photo... See > https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...2-jpg.2767738/ and > https://cwmoss.com/products/gas-tank...r-1937-41-ford Last edited by petehoovie; 06-23-2024 at 08:58 PM. |

Those are NOT the access holes.
In the photo depicting the left side, it appears there is a trap "door" just below and to the right. That "door" is held to the floor with one screw. If that 'door" has never been removed, there will be tar around the edges. That tar can be chipped off rather easily. I have attached two photos that while not the best quality, should certainly help you locate what you seek easily.

You can barely see the edge of the lid in the bottom of your pic marked "L".

I have never seen a 37 with that round three screw cover, what is it for?

Those were originally tack welded in place.

Definitely a trap door held in place by a screw as KUBE explained.
