Default Subrails for a '30 Commercial Cowl?

Good afternoon, all!

My sons and I are building a speedster using an A chassis and a Commercial Cowl. Does anyone have drawings showing how the subrails that mount the two together look? We set it on the chassis and it's obvious there is something missing as they are nowhere near close to fitting together.

I've looked in my old S&J catalog and the new Snyders, but their illustrations are just dark black lines in between the body and frame rails.

Thanks in advance!

Very Respectfully,
jason

Not sure what you mean when you say they won't mount together. Here are a couple of pictures how they should mount. Only one bolt in the rear holes.

Thank you, BobC! I'll try fitting it again. I think we were trying to line it up with that small bracket in the front and the big one in the rear. Now that I see where it should go it makes more sense.

V/R,
jason

The forward pieces are the sub rail extensions. The cab also had sub rails from those extensions back to the rear end of the cab. They likely had a few cross rails as well but it all may have been wood if this cowl was from a bus or other coach built body. The body blocks fit up under the sub rails and extensions then rest on the running board aprons. A person would need the A pillars to hang doors on whether original type or local fabrication but it depends on what type body you want from the subrails up. Doors may not be what you want. The Cabriolet subrails were all wood.

Thanks, Rotorwrench!

I found a post on Facebook today of a 'doodlebug' that used a Commercial Cowl. In the pictures, I was able to see that we do indeed need wood blocks in between the cowl itself and the brackets on the frame. It showed clearly the pieces that were missing and what needs to be fabricated.
