Default 1929 Splash Pans.

I have a 29 Roadster with mechanical brakes. I would like to put splash pans on it. Do they bolt to the frame or body. Does the body have to be removed to install them. THX. Jay

There are 2 carriage bolts at each ends of each splash apron to secure the apron. One visible when the hood is opened. The other is at the rear end of the apron under the body. Yes, you need to loosen the body to frame bolts and remove the 2 carriage bolts close together by the front floorboard. All the other body bolts don't need to be removed, just loosened, as the apron has cutouts to fit around the other bolts. You would need to jack up the body slightly to slide the splash apron in place and install the rear carriage bolt. I believe the two bolts are 1/4" in diameter. The carriage bolts fasten the splash apron to the frame. Hope this helps.

I thought he was referring to splash aprons, but called them splash pans. I don't think he would be asking about removing the body if he was referring to engine splash pans. I guess we will have to see if he clarifies what he was asking about.
