1939 Ford clutch linkage arm
Can anyone advise me on how to remove the clutch linkage arm? I have the correct arm to swap this unit out. It appears to be a press fitting.
Any help would be appreciated. |

I'm thinking there is a rivet holding it that goes through the shaft.

The arm is held in place by a solid pin which has been driven into a press-fit hole. Easiest way to get it out is to grind the head off and then use a pneumatic hammer to drive the pin out. Coop . |

Just a question from an "8BA Guy". Is the pin tapered or can it come out either way?

The pin is straight. I supply a double spiral roll pin in my T5 conversion kits that replaces the stock Ford pin. Has worked for almost 30 years.

Like Gary said, it's straight but it's a very snug fit. Every now and then, you'll run into one that has taken root over the years and can be difficult to get moving. That's why I always used a pneumatic hammer. The pin has a head on one end which must be removed. The other end was peened-over at the factory and is peened sort of down in a recess, making it easier just to just grind away the head on the other end. Coop . |
