The MAFCA's Restorer magazine had a detailed article last year all about restoring powererhouse.

The Model A Generator book by Paul & William Mcree is the best I've found so far. Be very careful how you record where the coils go. They alternate the winding directions for polarity in the case so a person has to get that right for it to function properly. I was involved in a lengthy discussion about that recently so there is a thread about that on here. Most books don't get into rewinding the field coils.

Thanks. I'm not in MAFCA but may find a friend with that magazine. I have rewound coils from a parts vendor which I trust are correct and will note the location of the old ones before they come out.

This is a recent link. Steamgas made a diagram of his field coil arrangement and put it in an adobe file for folks to use in the future. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...=324013&page=3 Last edited by rotorwrench; 04-12-2023 at 10:53 AM. |

Years ago i ran a Powerhouse on my '28. When it quit I went to the later unit. When I talked to the "old timers" they all said the major problem was with solder joints going cold inside the Powerhouse.
