I’m curious to know if they are still in business as well.

Yes, MEC is still in business. I just recently received some parts and have talked with Gene Sanders several times in the last month. Phone # (330) 644-3450.

Every time I've wanted to order parts from them I've called and I've talked to Gene directly and never have had any issues. I do know their web site isn't the best but their parts are outstanding IMO. Might be a holiday thing or moving as some suggested but hang in there it will be worth the wait. Again IMO.

I've been trying to reach Gene over the phone with no luck. I am looking for one of his 32 master cylinder brackets that bolts to the K-member. Does anyone know if he is still making these? Or does anyone have one they want to part with?
Thanks, Neal |

He still advertises in Hemmings. His web site sucks but never had any malware issues. It does take a while for him to return calls but in the past he always has. His stuff is top notch, IMO so just keep leaving messages. All I've got, sorry.

The same thing happened to me. I just immediately shut my computer down and did a restart and it works fine.

Charlie
That steel brake line looks too close to the exhaust pipe. Bruce

This is a pretty simple scam. Usually called a "scareware" scam.
1. Take over a website name that the owner had allowed the domain to expire. 2. Load a simple program that looks like it locks up the computer, and convincingly tells you that you have been hacked (in this case, as many it really is an "innocent" program that is just running like the "crook" told it to). If you have any reasonable anti-virus or anti-malware program the "bad stuff" would not have gotten past it! 3. Tell the "mark" they have to contact the scammer to unlock things... 4. If the "mark" "bites" they charge big $$$ to "fix" and often have you load a program that REALLY IS nasty malware or spyware. 5. Or you reboot and life goes on as well as it did before. |
