i have a 49 merc crank and bearings, will these work in a 59a? also, what about the clutch?

The rear main has to match the block
The rod bearings have to match the rods The flywheel has to match the block |

If you have them, I'd go ahead and run the later 49-53 rods with the insert bearings. If you don't have these rods, I'd find a set and have them rebuilt. There is no great reason to run 59A full-floater bearings and rods unless you have already purchased/own them and the rods/bearings have been correctly setup. There are very few machine shops that know how to setup full-floater bearings these days. |
