It depends on the year model. Many are still original parts. King Seeley made inovative and quality parts for automotive instrumentation. The prewar cars were 50 psi systems and post war were 80 psi. I'm still using original parts myself but most of my Fords are post war so they are a little newer. I'm avoiding the modern reproductions for as long as I can get away with it.

Exactly what make or type of gauge are you asking about. Original 6 volt gauges require a voltage dropping unit to reduce the 12 volt supply to 6 volts if you are using a 6 volt gauge on a 12 volt system. The sender unit will function with the gauge on either voltage. Gauges need to be matched to their original type sender units. Just any old sender unit is not suitable. Regards, Kevin.

If you have a 50# gauge you need a 50# sending unit or like I found out your gauge will read very low. I'm still in need of a working 50# sending unit if anyone has one they can spare. Tim
