Default They don't make them like they used to

This is just a fun post. My brother and I quit working on the 32 roadster back in our youth. The last run was either 79 or 80, so over 40 years. All the odds and ends parts went into boxes and sat in the car in one barn or another for 40+years.

Getting back into the project this year, we pulled a lot of stuff out of the boxes. This included recently the red marker in the photo. On a whim, my brother popped the top and ran it over a piece of paper. It worked like the day it was made. How many of today's markers would sit through over 40 years of summer and winter in the NE in a building with no climate control and still work. Most can't make it a year in my desk. Sure, the old ones might have a 1 in 10,000 chance of increasing your risk of cancer, if you ate it. But they sure have staying power.

And... for what you'll pay for the new, you could have bought 4 or 5 back then.
About prices, an unexpected plus from the Covid is that I now have a fully stocked larder in the garage that's worth 30% more than I paid for it. The downside from that is that I keep buying more of the same items, not wanting to run out.

I know what you're talking about. I had to explain to the cable/phone guy that my wife always keeps 120 rolls of tp, 20 rolls of paper towels, 12 packs of Kleenex, cases sanitizer, soap, fabric softener etc. Our phone/cable box is in the fruit cellar room.

Well they don't make markers like they used to which would explain while todays one probably wouldn't last as long. Sniffing your one would likely still give you a "bit of a buzz"

Be careful with the black Marks A Lot pens. New or old. They all spell wrong.
