Default 37 Heater accessory

Anyone ever see this heater accessory? It’s not in the restoration book. Thanks, Tim

Tim, that's an aftermarket gasoline fired heater, not an authorized Ford accessory, but generally known to be very efficient. Arden was one manufacturer of gas heaters.

A friend has a Southwind, says Southwind on the knob. Mine doesn’t.

That's a Southwind model. As Alan mentioned, it is gasoline fired.

Made by Stewart Warner.
They look good and work well but are not correct.

Yep, a Southwind for sure. That is the larger one or senior model. You have an incorrect knob. Correct knobs will say Southwind and can frequently be found on eBay. Several listed now. One for $16.00, several others for $49.00. I have a Junior model in my 35 Peecup. It will run you out in no time.

Oh yes Alan. It can get mighty cold here, especially as you get older. LOL

Well that’s news to me. Someone told me the four Seasons down there are:
Wet&Windy; Damp&Moldy; Hot&Sweaty; and Humid&Sticky.
Is that not true?

Yes. Southwind's slogan was "Heat in 90 Seconds". That is pretty much true. I love mine. (That's when it gets cold here, Alan.)

Oh, Dean 333. The second picture you posted, showing the fire wall, that tall brass part is the carburetor for the heater, fastened to the intake on the back side of the heater where it mounts to the inside of the fire wall. The small line coming our, well actually going into the carburetor is the gas line. In the third picture is where the gas line goes into a spacer mounted between the intake and the carburetor on the engine. There is a more common source for the gas, and that is a small tube that runs directly from the heater carburetor into the float bowl on the carburetor on the engine. It is more compact and neater in appearance. If I can ever overcome the psychological block that prevents me from posting pictures here, I will post a picture. LOL. Lawson

Lawson, I looked more closely and saw that it did say Southwind on the knob, just very faded now. Bought an NOS knob off EBay.
