Would anyone know if the mallory distributor s use the same advance springs as the MSD.

depends on the dizzy but generally no earlier the unit the less chance it will fit they kept the part nos but changed the internals then dumped all the old mallory parts good luck especially if its a YL or similar have had some success with summit racing parts

The model number for a Mallory unit is usually on the badge/plate on the side of it.
