Default 1941 Door Handle Slippage

Occasionally, becoming more often, when I go to open the driver's door on my coupe, the handle turns with some resistance, but slips and does not unlatch the door. If I push in on the door handle and turn, it engages and unlatches the door.

Can there be slippage between the handle and shaft? Or is it slippage between the shaft and latch mechanism?

I have tightened the screw under the door gasket that holds the handle in place, but that did not seem to help.

What is the fix?
