Hello everyone. I disassebled my zenith carburetor for a suspected bad mixture screw. I checked Les Andrew's book and it said to screw the mixture screw in until it touches the bottom seat and back it out 1 1/2 turn. Dumb question: What touches the bottom seat? The spring or the cap?

the seat is the orface that the needle touches inside the carb not the outside top face where the spring touches
screw in the needle and you will feel the needle come up tight to the inside seat. so you screw it in, until it stops , not real tight, then back it off the 1.5 turns.

No the spring will not fit in the orifice. It just sits under the head of the screw.
