Engine builder didn't install the item circled in red in the photo below.....
it was returned to me in a plastic bag. They did run-in the engine after it was assembled on a test stand. No leaks or problems. Any issue with not running the plate pictured below? Thanks. |

This info. may help. Contact Mac Van Pelt to make sure.
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...-help.1040247/ Is that part used only with the cast iron truck bellhousing that connects the engine to the transmission? |

"19Fordy" is correct. That is a truck only part. What are you working on?

It's a '48 F-1 239 flathead.
There's no doubt it was on the engine beforehand when I gave it to H&H and it was returned to me in a plastic bag when I picked the engine up, as I mentioned. Two short bolts are installed in the oil pan rail where this item originally was. The engine was run on their stand before I picked it up..... I'm assuming this piece is redundant. I see the two seals are available from Mac van pelt. (8RT-6425 AND 8RT-6424) |

Look at the photos of this oil pan for sale and you will see the bolt holes for that piece.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/39399621201...evt=1&mkcid=28 My 1950 Mercury stamped steel oil pan has similar bolt holes and bracket attached to the oil pan. As you can see the 2 bottom bell housing bolts go through those holes. Your situation may be similar. Hence, the piece you ask about is not needed. |

I have the truck oil pan and see how the 6410 piece bolts up. I'll leave it off the engine. |
