They would not match up to bolt on. There would need to be some bodywork done to mate with the cowl and running boards, and not to forget to change the front crossmember and crank fan mount. Too bad you don’t like the ‘39 Standard, as that one would be a bolt on to a ‘38 Deluxe, and is a popular choice.

The firewalls are different. Also'38 and '39 STANDARDs both use radiator steady rods between radiator and firewall. '39 DeLuxe firewall has no provision for the rods. Side cowl area where fenders bolt-up and indent for hood is completely different between '39 Std. and '39 DeLuxe. DD . |

![]() Here is a shot of all three cars, 1939 Ford Standard, 1938 Ford Deluxe and 1939 Ford Deluxe. As you can see, the 1939 Ford Deluxe Front Clip is totally different to the 1938 Ford Deluxe and 1939 Ford Standard. |

![]() Australian 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Sedan (these days refereed to as a Sloper) Notice the slope starting from the "B" Pillar. The Owner/Builder of this car has since passed away, so I am unable to tell you what Colour it is. |

That sounds about right. I saved those pictures YEARS ago just for comparative reasons! What are the odds, huh? A lot of folks don't realize that there is SO MUCH difference between '39 Stds. & DeLuxes from windshield forward. DD . |

![]() While FoMoCo didn't make 1938 Ford Standard Convertible Sedans, the owner of this one must have liked the looks of the 1938 Ford Standard, in preference to the looks of the 1938 Ford Deluxe, and added the 1938 Ford Front Clip to this Convertible Sedan. |

If yours is a 38 deluxe and you are not happy with it, then better to change it a 38 standard.
Much prettier IMHO. |

The 38 standard looks really nice Oz, much better in my eyes. Much neater design.
