I have lived with my 32 5w with rumble lid too low at the rear sides when closed and finally removed it to investigate. David's wonderful 32 book shows the roadster hinges and gives part numbers. Well I have roadster hinges on the 5w and I bet that is the problem. What are the correct part numbers for the 5w hinges I need please? Also the aftermarket lists the hinges as interchangeable and only sells one set. Anyone else run into this problem? For anyone believing I just need to adjust the body hinges, there is no provision.

Rumble hinge arm on lid... RH/LH, Rumble hinge bracket on body... RH/LH.
Roadster: B-41546/47, B-41543/44. 5 Window/Sport Coupe: B-47532/33, B-47430/31. Cabriolet: B-70526/27, B-70532/33. Taiwan repro roadster rumble hinges are "junk". There were some cast iron repro's made by "Anderson"? in Wisconsin years ago, brittle but fit OK. Our aluminum roadster ones were OK (but aluminum) and not currently available. Karl |

Thanks Karl. I guess I am looking for B-47532/33 and body brackets B-47430/31.

It's a classic case of vendors making assumptions inconsistent with the facts no further away than a copy of a '32 body parts catalog.
Karl being one of a few notable exceptions. |

Anyone have a picture of what the 5windo hinges look like? I assume that the legs are longer than what I have. Mine are 8 1/2 and 8 5/8 overall length.

Thank you David. The legs look longer than mine. The body hinge looks correct to the coupe upright braces. The page 11-22 shows the lid hinges as b-47431 and 47430 not the 47532/33.

The full-size version of the photo on page 11-22 well magnified reveals the cast-in part numbers for the standard and sport coupe rumble lid hinges, which are consistent with the caption in the book, namely B-47431 and B-47430.
Karl's listing for those body types are reversed, which is easy to understand as the order of the deck lid portion and body portion are reversed in order in the '32 Body parts catalou from those for the roadster. |
