Default No Spark Quick Help

I found I’m not getting spark and of course now it won’t start. I redid all the electrical last year and it worked great.

Going through the Les Andrews Voltage test I find I have 6V everywhere I should except the points when open. I measure 1.5-2V only.

Yes the switch is closed/on.

Right now I’m thinking switch problem, grounding out against the tank on the backside of the dash, or the armored cable.

I’m hoping it’s not the bottom plate, etc.

All these components were new last year and were working but something obviously either stopped or failed.

I did swap the condenser before running the voltage test and no change.

Any quick ideas of where to go first?

I was going to suggest the condensor but you say you have changed that.

Unscrew the cable that connects to the distributor and measure the voltage there. If you have 6 volts at that point then it has to be the bottom plate or maybe that the connector was screwed in too far.

Thanks! Just the info I needed to go on a quest. I pulled the distributor and found the same voltage at the end of the armored cable. Went back in to the dash and pulled it. Found I got 6.2V at the end of the armored cable with the dash pulled.

Darn Re-pop ignition switch. Sticks too far back and was semi grounding out on the tank. Did a bunch of little fixes to keep that from happening and everything fired right up.

Thanks!
