Where can a reliable rebuilt standard model A transmission be purchased? One that does not need to be replaced in 2500 miles. Thanks, Bill

Everthing breaks in time. There isn't a whole lot to go wrong in a model A transmission if it is being used properly. I have heard about a batch of bad made bearings, but they can be in many transmissions. I had to re-bearing a modern car trans due to bearings that were getting noisy too soon. I think you can get a transmission from the major suppliers of A parts like Brattons. I have a few for sale if you are close.

I had a local car restorer rebuild mine. Gears were badly worn as were the bearings. He is not a Model A specialist but is a good mechanic. That was five years, 8800 miles ago. You do not need a specialist, just an honest person who has experience. Check with a local club.
