Default Need some simple help.

I just bought a greyhound hood ornament for my '36 Phaeton and I'm not really sure how to mount it. I looked at pictures and it's looks like I'm putting it on correctly but it just flops around.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Leave it off. It is not correct for 36 anyhow.

Your filler neck may be worn, if it is a repo you may have to shim the gasket ,My 33 was the same way,I made gaskets until it was tight.
You may want to keep the hound in the car when driving, they don't like falling off driving down the highway. John

I think it should have a rubber inserted between the underneath of the greyhound mounting and the crest of the hood ornament. Brian

I really don't drive it down the road much except to give it a little exercise now and then. Mostly I trailer it to shows and parades.

Lawson, if it's not correct then why do I see so many of 36 phaetons with them? Not being argumentative, just curious.

Red paint on a 36 phaeton is not correct either, but lots of people like red.

How many incorrect things do you have on your truck Lawson?? These are not a radiator cap deal. There are 2threaded holes below the rear leg on the sides put an allen set screw on each side [short ones] to hold the back down. And the front takes a 1/4 x20 flat head screw cross wise. if its sloppy put as someone suggested a rubber shim stock under the front mount. I have one on my 5/w coupe w/no shim. Dosen't flop around??? ken ct.

The only FORD that had a factory grayhound was the 34. All others on Fords are un-authorized after market items.

Clara did not like the anitomically correct grayhound and she stopped Henry from using it. (If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.)

Henry did experiment with one on the 35 (I have a factory photo) but it never went into production. He also experimented with a jack rabbit, (I have a factory photo as well) but it never went into production either.

I have several incorrect things about my pickup. What about your 36! I was just pointing it out as he seemed like thought it should be correct. lol

Nevermind. I googled some pictures and saw how they were put on at shows and that's how I did it. Looks great and really classes up the hood. Thanks for all the help folks!
