Default My Rear End is Dirty

36 pickup, I don't think it's moved under it's own power for several decades. The gear lube has turned to a thick syrup, and at the bottom it has solidified to the point where I need to use chisel, ice pick, brass brush and loads of aerosol brake cleaner to make any progress.

When I started I had to use a channel locks to turn the driveshaft. Now I can turn it easily with just my fingers.

And one of the bells, cleaned and painted and ready to go back in (once I drive in the new axle seal) :

Scott, are you putting a '37-'40/'41 rear in your '36 pu? Just wondering since the axel housing shown is not '36.

Yeah, good catch. I'm using the entire chassis from a 38 passenger car. It is in so much better shape than the frame and suspension that is currently under my pickup. I'll use the 36 style gas tank so I won't have issues with the filler tube. The passenger car mounting brackets are already off the frame.

The rear leaf spring is already rebuilt and ready to go back in, along with all the original cleaned-up hardware.
