Back in the day the power boat manufacturers ( Chris Craft ,Century,Hacker) used auto gauges and would turn the speedometer into a tachometer because in a boat the speedometer wouldn't work and a tachometer was needed. 1948 Pontiac and Oldsmobile that were converted to marine use are very common at swap meets.

A proper '39 truck speedo would be all chocolate brown with white lettering and a art deco looking needle. What speedo are you looking for?
