Shock linkage

While cleaning 79 years of gunk and road grime off my stock absorbers on my 41, I noticed that the linkage is pretty weak and the rubber is in bad shape. So I want to replace them. Does anyone have a good technique or knowledge as to removing the linkage? My pickle forks are too big. And a bigger hammer may break something LOL

It is a snap with this little gadget. I forget which old Ford parts place I got it.

This is exactly what I use. They can be purchased at any decent auto parts store. It's a tie rod end press.

Don’t get the equivalent one from Harbor Freight, it doesn’t fit. For the front of my ‘41 I cut my links in half so I had room to work and used a smaller pickle fork.
Post some more pictures of your Mercury it’s a sharp looking car.

howdy, where would you get replacement tie rod type ends for this shock. I want to use mine also

I used speedways type . It doesnt look like the pressed metal type but works and is easy to install
