Greetings! I'm new to the forum and I'm really hoping that someone here might be able to help us. My dad is in the process of building a 38 Ford Woody. He's using a 38 standard from end, but he is missing the whole hood latch assembly (hood ornament, hood latch dowel, cam, tension spring, hood handle and base, etc).
I have searched everywhere, hoping to help him find the parts, but we've had no luck. Does anyone know where I might be able to find one? Or at least, if we can't get a hold of one, some sort of work-around for the hood latch. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Chris |

In addition to the above request, even a diagram of how the hood latch works would help us to build one, if necessary!
Thanks! Chris |

The 1938 Ford hood latch on Ebay is for a 1938 deluxe or 1939 standard and he states he is using a 1938 standard front end. There is a difference between the two. be carefull what you buy.

The one on Ebay is "NOT" for a 39 Standard. It is for a 38 Standard or 38 Deluxe, maybe a 37. I don't know which but it's NOT 39 Standard.

I need to see a picture of a completely assembled 1938 ford standard hood latch. That diagram is only helpful in identifying all the right parts.

Ok, went out to the Barn and dug out a 38 hood with a latch. Sorry about how dirty it is, but maybe it will help. There is a plate on the shaft that rotates with the handle. The plate moves into and out of a slot in a stud. The stud is on the grill side and sticks up through the hole in the hood.
