Default Door gap 1937 ford sedan

I have a 1937 ford sedan and I was wondering if there should be a gap between the door rubber strip at the bottom and the car? The car has had some work done by the previous owner years ago. I an assuming it should make contact to door seal? I can stick my finger between door rubber and car when closed.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The answer is yes. I know the 38s have an odd shaped seal at location to seal the gap.
