Anyone know what the Pressure plate bolt pattern is for a V8 Clutch? I have one on order but I thought I would go ahead and cut and drill and tap the holes in my flywheel in the mean time.

What size clutch? I have a 11" here sitting on the bench, is this a dump truck you are working with?

Sorry, looking at a 9" clutch.
Small world. My cousin used to be school superintendent in West. |

Just curious, are you going to use a rotary table on a mill for layout, -or are you going to use coordinates and a DRO??

This is an old thread for the Ford/Long 10-inch flywheel drilling dimensions so a person can get an idea of how to go about it.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...4069&showall=1 The 9-inch clutch is on a 10.375" circle so that can be divided by 2 to get the radius for the centerline to hole distance. It will be 120 degrees between the first holes and should be 32 degrees between pairs. The distance between pair centers is approximately 2.830" if I remember correctly. A person can use a DRO if they have one or a rotary index table. It just depends on what a person has available to them. It should also be noted about where the original set of holes is so that they can be spaced evenly apart enough to prevent weakening the flywheel. Hole sizes and thread per inch should reflect the size of the cover bolts that will be used. Last edited by rotorwrench; 08-17-2020 at 01:01 PM. |

After measuring, it won't quite fit in my lathe.
I took it to a general machine shop we use at work he will do it for me but will wait until the pressure plate is in hand later this week to drill and tap the holes. |

You can cut the circumference of the flywheel down to 11.125 safely..leaving enough to support the ring gear..balance the assembly complete with disc,pp and flywheel..good luck

11.125? Not sure but I think the ring gear is larger than that.

The bolt pattern diameter is 10.375. The holes are 120 degrees apart with a separation of 32 degrees between the two diameters.

Should I have the flywheel and clutch balanced? The rest of the engine hasn't been balanced.

I can tell you from experience that you will regret not balancing the flywheel first, and then the pressure plate to the flywheel.

Got my flywheel back today. Weighed in at 39.5 pounds. Will get it all balanced next week.
