Hello everyone , my first post , I'm trying to get the backing plates off a 1953 f100 rear end to use on my model a , are the axles C clip , or do I just need a slide hammer to pull them out .

Once the 4 bolts are removed, the axle assy with the outer bearing may just pull out. (no C clip) If not a little persuasion may be required.

If the axle has a rear backing plate center cover (Dana/spicer) they are the clip style , if it has a pop out differential it is not the clip in type ,I have seen those axles replaced with later 9 inch pop out the front style housing .
