If you don't follow Iron Trap on Instagram or check their web page you haven't seen that they have started listing a lot of the A parts from this haul.

Any one remember Lloyd and Shirley Young? Lloyd always told me "Gene when I but a lot of parts I tell people I buy them all, or I don't buy any".

I picked up some Model A parts
from the Grandfather to transport at least 10 years ago when he was still alive. That day was a “ Church Day “. That is a day when I leave the camera/phone in the truck and just absorb what I am privileged to see - some folks want their collections to remain private. There is another collection in North Carolina that is being sold. Lots of original early cars, mostly roadsters. Lots of early parts. Doug was a private guy. Before he died, he told me that he wanted to sell his cars and parts but only through the club he belonged to. I did not like the internet or strangers coming to his house. A life time collection.
We all die eventually. I just sold some surplus stuff at the Asheville meet with the help of my friend Mark. I don't want to leave a mess to my kids or wife when I die, in a few hundred years.

Years ago, I went into a barn like that in Missouri. Very rural area.

The collection is actually in rural Massachusetts, not PA.

The problem with this strategy is that Doug didn't actually know many people and didn't come to any events. The pool he had to sell to under his rules was very small. I've met a ton of people and made a lot of contacts by being willing to sell his stuff to almost anyone. The selling creates the community, not the other way around.

When it's time for me to tap out, I'm not selling any of my parts stash- I am GIVING it all away. It's just stuff. Why not be a blessing to someone else? Hoping I meet a young person with the same passion for them as mine someday, and then they will get the surprise of a lifetime before I die.
My dad's plan is to swallow a bag of raw popcorn kernels just before he takes is last breath so when they cremate him, he leaves with one last epic practical joke.

If you watch the movie closely, it is overwhelming. But in reality (discussing this with a guy who was there last summer trying to buy the collection that was listed on Marketplace for $300,000) there were not many "rare" parts, primarily a large collection of Model A parts that are easy to find.
