Apologizes to the purist...
Has anyone used AlloyGator wheel rim protectors on a Model A wheel?

I don't think they are necessary at all on a model A.

Re: Apologizes to the purist...
There are fewer and fewer purists these days because it is way too expensive to practice, and results in an unsafe Model "A" for touring. So there is no need to apologize to that rare bread, the "Purist."

Re: Apologizes to the purist...
If you want to drive and occasionally get on the freeway, it might be better to be impure. Mine has a modified A motor, F100 steering, F150 synchromesh OD trans, and 15” wheels. ... seat belts and more. I am not afraid to get on the freeway with my cabriolet, but still have to use caution and stay in the slow lane, always a bit worried some other driver will cut in front and unsafely reduce my braking distance needs.
I have the highest regards for the work of a purest, but drivability is most often lost on such a car. |

A well restored should be safe to drive anywhere, if not for consideration of extra care needed when surrounded by modern cars driving at freeway speeds. |

Re: Apologizes to the purist...
Reason I was looking at the trim rings are the rims are kinda beat up and pitted around the edges, the trim has good reviews but has a sharp grip that goes against the tire and I was wondering if any one had encountered an issue around the tire/tube.... not looking to protect anything just dress up the wheels...

Re: Apologizes to the purist...
I have not used that particular product but i once used something that looked like split tubing to cover the edge of a rough rim. That was held on partly with tire pressure so i guess it was not a terribly useful comparison to this adhesive version.
