R.I.P. Gene,

I can remember the 1st time I saw his name was an article in Hot Rod or Car Craft Circa 1976-77 I was subscribed to both even though I had to wait another year to get my license. Fast forward to 2015 when I transported the Stewart-Warner display truck to SEMA & part of my fee was a pass for the week. I finally got to meet Gene & spend some time with him away from the chaos. I never name drop to make myself look more than I am (like some others), but that was a really big deal for me & something I will ALWAYS remember!

God Bless
Bill

I remember reading of Gene Winfield in my early copies of Rod & Custom and other mags in my teens. Going forward I learned of his major contributions to our car world in all sorts of ways. It wasn't till Barrett Jackson in 2019 that I had a "brief I'm not worthy" moment to say Hello to Gene, in a few words I could tell he was so kind. RIP Gene, we all miss you.

Gene will be sadly missed by me. I know that my son Joe ( dual quad 55), here on the
H.A.M.B., will miss him, too.
