As per my previous threads, keeping my pickup 6 volt positive ground. I just finished making the cables for the battery to solenoid and solenoid to starter. Tightening down the starter end and it is stripped. Ran a die and looks like threads have taken a beating over the years. What is the process to replace the stud and where can I source one ? I am hoping to find something local through a parts store if possible.
Thanks |

Look at auto parts store in the "help" section, there is a repair stud for later Ford starters that can work

There is a copper repair adaptor made just for this.
It has a female thread, is about an inch long with a long hex and male threads on the top. There is one on the starter I am working right now and had it off a dozen times. Just make sure you tighten the lock nut on the bottom tight first. G.M.

You want a solid connection at the starter That's reliable since its a heavy draw. |
