I say this every year around this time...we have all added water in the summer and now is the time to check with a meter the freeze protection level we have. Trust me I'm relatively new to A 's but not to old cars. We all add water and S-L-O-W-L-Y we dissipate the level.
On another note modern cars use antifreeze like boats use zincs. The properties in anti freeze stop the galvanic corrosion of dis-similar metals in modern motors so changes are important. The protective levels diminish over time and surprise your water pump dumps. Also modern car manufactures use specific ingredients (so to speak) in their anti freeze products to do more than prevent freeze and corrosion...they also lubricate...so be careful out there. |
