I have a NORS king pin kit, the pins measure 1.0043"
A king pin bushing reamer for these trucks is 1.0045" Seems kinda tight or will the reamer cut oversize ??? The bushings have a split that should close up during insertion. When the bushings are pressed in ,should they be oriented in a particular direction ??? |

That's pretty tight. F-1's pins are 0.812" and the reamer is 0.814".
I've never heard of split bushings, that would seem to be a problem for the reamer. If there are grease holes in the bushings, they need to align with the zerks in the spindle.

Ream and check. The pin should be a hand push fit but tight enough not to fall out under its own weight. Most of the old pilot reamers were expandable but only a small amount. Some had slots cut between the flutes and an internal expander bolt set up. If it is solid with no expander bolt then it's not adjustable.
Many split type bushings have a shape to the split line to keep the ends locked together. They should be a press fit. If not, I'd look for some different bushings. |

I go with Rotorwrench.
Tight is good, all they have to do is rotate. If you use a reamer, and it's too tight, put a bit of oil on one of the pins and rotate it a bit. I've done many on a Sunnen hone- that's the way to go. They'll be loose soon enough. Karl Karl |

My reamer is not an expansion type.
Rotor; The split line is chevron shaped and ,there is probably less chance of a flute picking the joint and pulling the bushing material into the flute creating an out of roundness, which could cause premature pin to bore wear. |
