I have one of the remote reservoirs for underside of the car and it leaks, I have talked to the manufacture and they sent another on and it leaks also. I tried seal all and no luck. Do you know of a sealant or RTV that can be use with brake fluid. I have enclosed a picture of one not the same company that I got mine but look like it. maybe I should just buy there's . Where exactly is it leaking do you have pictures?

It has a thick rubber gasket that fit between the master cylinder and top cap. It is dripping around the rubber gasket and top cap. Thanks jerry

It is more like it seeps out around the rubber seal and you get drop running down the master cylinder. I can try and take a picture tomorrow but I don't think it will show anything it so slow, Jerry

Was going to ask how close to the top were you filling it, but then realized the picture shows a remote fill system, so I guess this was a useless post by me!!!

Is the top cap metal or plastic? You might want to try to bend the bails a bit so that they press harder against the cap. Jack E/NJ

I don't see that design working that well ,should have mutable fixings like a pan gasket

If your using DOT 5, nothing will stop the leak in that setup.

Had a similar situation and made my own remote fill cover that tightened down using threaded rod and aluminum plate.
Needless to say, it never leaked again. ( THE SYSTEM IS USING DOT 5 )

i have that set up shown on the first post. it has never leaked a drop. i am using dot 5. may be the top of the master cylinder is uneven.

If it is a rebuilt master cylinder they get tumbled to clean them and may have small imperfections on the gasket surface?

it is the aluminum top and I am just going to by the new set up I show in the picture and try that one. I am using Dot 3 brake fluid. thanks jerry

I wouldn't think the aluminum top and/or gasket would be the issue. It is a lot more likely that the top of the master cylinder would be where the problem would be. The master cylinder is not designed to have a seal with the fluid level all the way to the top and also under some pressure. It is going to have to have a good sealing surface on the master cylinder and then enough clamping pressure on the cover to get a good seal.

The master cylinder shown in the original post is not such a design. As noted by JSeery, it's not designed to have fluid above its machined cap surface.

My experience was on an off road vehicle and it never dripped but constantly weeped. The bail never was secure enough to stop the weep, probably due to off camber issues. I'm sure 51 Mercs solution would have solved the problem with the proper gasket.
