last week i bought about 6 items off ebay, bearings mostly, from many different vendors. i expected things to start arriving this weekend, most did, and when i went to my email to track shipment on others, first i see a fake mail from paypal saying my purchase from " allied international somthin or other, was on hold, and i should click here to fix the problem. well, i did not remember who all the vendors were, this one didnt sound right, so i opened another window and went to my paypal account. no purchase from allied was there. so at paypal they have an address you can forward spoof emails to, so i did that. next email that came in was from a bank in kenya that said my new account was all set up, and all i need to do is click here to log in! so, atleast pp has a place to report this stuff, but i cant find anything at hotmail to do it. anyone got bill gates's phone number?

It's easy to remember who you bought things from on e-Bay. Just go to my e-Bay and look at your "purchase history".

yup, already done that, no purchase from allied. i forgot to mention this too, i also bought an item from a guy on the hamb, payed with pp on friday night. he says the money came to his account as "pending", can not cash it until feb2. i use pp all the time, for 20 years, never had that happen before. so, i think paypal already knew somthin funny was going on.

Some computer wizard have to explain to me how they come up with the adresses...must be some kind of a program scouting sites for activity and then sends out all the spams.
If they used all that tallent for something legit they must be able to make some money honestly...just my thinking. |

My sister-in-laws computer was hacked and they stole all the email addresses from her address book, my wife started getting a huge amount of just emails from that breach, fortunately my email address was not in her address book.
Crooks also post legit email addresses to a website that sells them to other crooks. That's why I have 3 email addresses, one I use for PayPal, another for everyday business, and a third for stuff I order online or give to grocery stores, harbor freight, pharmacies, etc. |

I've been getting the same kinds of e-mails from "scam" banks saying that my bank account needed to be verified and click on this field etc. when you don't respond they say they are going to have to disable your account if you don't. I know this is bollocks straight away because I hold no accounts with the agencies they purport to be. I just delete the lot.

We got an email the other day from the tax department that said I was owed a big refund and a simple click of the mouse with my chosen bank account would see it deposited right away. The logo and the way the page was laid out was pretty good and I bet many people get sucked in.

Got this pop-up with voice warning a short time ago while on EBAY.
If you get it , don't click on anything just shut the computer down. In my case what I did, I called the number using a burner phone. Got an answer by someone with a strong Indian accent named 'JIM MURPHY'. After telling him that I wanted my computer to be saved from impending disaster, he asked me to log on to something and I explained that my computer is upstairs and I would have go there to get to it. He said he would wait and I said OK. I then set the phone down, put it on 'speaker' and just waited. After about 8 minutes with a few "hellos" by him, at the 10 minute mark he finally gave up. ![]() ![]()
