Default 1935 sedan body wood tack blocks

My 35 Tudor touring sedan needs some re-do of the windlace around the doors and the edges of the headliner. There are short 'blocks' of wood fitted in the body around the door opening which serve as tack strips to staple/nail the windlace and associated panels in place. The wood in my car has almost like petrified...hard as a rock.

What should I use to replace these pieces? What kind of wood were these originally? Does anyone sell replacement pieces?

Thanks!

On my 35, I removed that original material and screwed sections of 'vee belt' into the channels. The vee belt rubber holds tacks/staples very well.

Drake and other V-8 vendors sell new vinyl tack strip material in various widths and thicknesses. You can pop rivet into place. Does a great job of holding tacks or staples. In the past I used to cut thin strips of 1/4 inch plywood for tack strips, but it didn';t work as well as the vinyl.

I found some of the sheetmetal tabs broke off when trying to reuse them, so in the places that happened I used little self tapping screws. Someone else has suggested pop rivets. Whatever...all you need is to hold the new tack strip securely in place
