Default Cylinder Head Bolts

Hi I ne question I came across these cylinder head bolts. Does one of the Navarro's heads on aluminum match the length? This set is for stock factory heads. The (16) short bolts in the kit are 2″ long, the (28) long bolts are 2 3/4″ long. (4) bolts are 2 1/4″ long.

While I cannot be sure from where I sit, it seems a stock 8ba type head might use only 2 bolt lengths. 8ba heads I looked at last night looked like the 2 bolts per side in question were set deeper into the head on the 8ba style, while a 59ab type head has a raised boss for those two. I know for sure when one breaks tradition and uses head bolts on a 59ab, there are two odd length ones per side. Just above the bottom row. Washers in your kit would indicate these bolts were intended for aluminum heads, and the presence of the 4 mid-length bolts MIGHT indicate they were made for use on a 59 or earlier series block..

I have two sets of Edmunds 8BA heads and each head has two intermediate length bosses on each side just above the bottom row. I only had stock headbolts, but the shorter bolts "caught" 5 threads through these bosses, so I used them. No problems so far. I would have liked to have had a couple of sets of these when I put the engines together.

I don't know what screws to order. have now ordered Navarre 8ba heads and was looking for matching screws. I think at the top of the picture that fit?

I don't believe those are for factory heads, which don't use the "intermediate" length bolts. The aftermarket manufacturers often copied each other; if the Edmunds heads have two intermediate length bosses, the chances are pretty good that the Navarro's did too. You may have lucked out with these.

May I ask where you got (or are going to get) them?
