I guess you have all seen your share of rusty floors in your old Fords. I did a bit of video assessment on my new 53 Merc yesterday. Its sort of a "before" video so I'm hoping I can eventually do an "after" video. Assuming I get it patched up.

Yes, I as many others have seen conditions like this and it was generally the last look before stripping it of the good parts and sending the rest to the scrap yard.
Suggest you check the frame, especially from the firewall forward. Surprised to see the auto trans. level check access in the floor. US Fords in '52-'53 had that feature in the engine compartment.

Looks like there is enough clean-out and mending to keep you busy for a bit, Ralph. I'll watch your progress.

It looks like you have some work ahead of you, however from other projects that I have seen from your videos you are more than capable of handling this minor bump. Patience and perseverance will win out! I wish I was closer I could give you a hand when you need it! Have fun, Roger

No doubt both my 52 and 53 would have been scrapped for parts car at one time. And probably still would by some. If I didn't love these old Mercs so much I might consider it too. But they are not building any new ones. Plus my standards are low. If it runs , drives and shines up well, I'm happy.

Truth is, it looks like the more you look for rusty metal replacement, the worse it gets. Once summer starts, you'll "get her fixed." |

For whatever reason, frame rust is pretty much non-existent in vehicles in this part of the country.
