Did we ever determine if there was someone who was selling restored shells, -or was doing a decent job on restoring '30 or '31 shells? I have a customer needing a '30 shell for their project.

I have gotten some restorer stainless items inclulding a shell once from Vintage Vehicle Stainless I believe in Wisonsin. I'll PM you with their number.
Not cheap but then it takes a lot to do them right and they are top notch.
I was very pleased.

The SS shells for the Model A came out in 1930 and were called "Allegheny stainless." They have a composition that almost always requires the TIG welding process to minimize distortion. The wire required is 316. (might be a little wrong here,) but has to have the right "color" to match that rare Model A "color."

I'm not a metallurgist, but the welding experts will know what I mean.

The purpose of this is then encourage anyone who needs a shell repaired to search out the qualified people to minimize problems later with the restore..
