Greetings, I finally pulled the water pump on my '29 engine and am stumped. Nothing looks like any manuals or parts catalogue. There is no packing nut, I cut the shaft to get it out, it appears the impeller is spring loaded against the housing..both sides of shaft are bushings, no bearings. What the heck is this?

I've have a similar pump on my deluxe delivery It's filled with waterproof grease and it's been running perfectly for at least 50,000 miles. I add a little bit of waterproof grease about every 2000 miles To bad Ford didn't make them all like that.

looked ok, but leaked. So I was going to rebuild it, then realized it did not seem to look like anything I was seeing ...my block is marinating in Evaporust, and as you can see, the pump was really bad.
