Years back I bought a tudor sedan that had a rear door cut into it with a large nail and a couple of house hinges to hold it in place.A couple of friends brought it over on a trailer and the top had blown loose on the freeway. I got to work and eventually made it drivable and enjoyed it for a short time, then decided it was an absolute eyesore so I took it all apart and straightened the frame and tightened all the rivets that were loose, painted the frame and started looking for a real Delivery body or parts. Found parts for 1500 dollars and through tense negotiation and clever timing finally bought them a couple of years later for 2500 dollars. Took everything to the stripper and after it was dipped and all the rust removed as well as paint brought it home and primed everything, Some of the lower parts of the body metal looked like a lace curtain so I took the car to my son in law, actually had put it together enough to drive it there. He replaced any bad metal and was going to paint the whole car but Ferrari's and such are really his thing so after 10 years I have it back. All the body metal looks great and it is really solid, fenders fit well and with a bit of work it could be a great car. So I plan to do what I can and what I can't I will hire done and get this thing back on the road. It really is a cute car and would fool an awful lot of people into believing Ford built it just like it is, but there is the issue of a title that says it is a tudor (2dr sedan.) I'd like to change that to delivery or de luxe delivery, not to perpetuate a hoax but it is obviously not a tudor sedan anymore and I want to license it here in Califexico without having a hassle. Any clues on how I should go about that? At present it has a non-op so this is probably the time to pull it out of mothball status and get it registered correctly so I don't have the law looking down my neck when I'm out on the highways and byways. I'd also like to drive it from place to place for paint and the finishing of the body work on the fenders. I don't own a truck of trailer anymore so it would be better for me to just drive it. What documentation will I have to provide to CA DMV to change things?
Thanks for reading and any helpful replys, Dave Mc Arthur [email protected] |

If it is a true three-door sedan, don't convert it to a delivery. Those three-doors are very rare. My dad had one in the 50's when I was a kid, but he sold it before I got a vote on it.
Post a picture if you can.

leave the title alone, is the simple answer............
2nd answer, when filling out new registration, just write A Ford deluxe keeps it ambiguous and the title can be used again when you decide to create yet another body style. ![]() not so sure why people get so hung up on titles........let it go. |
