I would like to know if the block surface that the flywheel housing mounts to is at the same plane as to where the flywheel housing "ears" mount. Does someone have an engine block detail that shows this area in detail? I know about the gasket and the shims, which have been discussed before. I want to know what the factory machined.
Thanks in advance. |

They are machined in the same plane.

I agree with Tom. The shims are to make up for the thickness of the gasket between the block and the flywheel housing.
