Is anyone using adjustable jets in their Holley 94's?

If no one answers your question, it's probably because they're on the phone calling AAA.

I wish I'd said that.

Don't waste your time. You will be fiddling around with them until the cows come home and never get them correct. Also getting both jets adjusted exactly the same is near impossible. Just use the correct jets listed for the elevation where you live. Regards, Kevin.

Just to prove something to all the nay-sayers, I tried adjustable jets on my center 97. I am now a humble member of the nay-sayers. The only good news is that Speedway was pleasant about taking them back and giving a refund; probably because I had just ordered big $ SCAT rotating assembly. The SCAT nay-sayers are waiting for me to throw a rod. So far, so good.

I think they would probably work OK with an AF meter. However, You must start with a larger jet to begin with,if you want to richen the mixture. Considering the fact that a jet change from 49-52 covers most engine requirements. You might end up with AA

To me, adjustable main jets would be good for checking for checking fuel requirements on an engine dyno with a meter and AF meter to check fuel flow. Other than that, they are probably a pain in the keester.

Easy enough to set with one of these.....
(and probably want to do it in conjunction with a chassis dyno) I don't think adjustable jets are really an advantage. The vernacular for this- they are a "solution looking for a problem." |

Yes sure is. Try the Stromberg carburettor web site. A very good book on the Stromberg 97 carburettor is Vern Tardels booklet number 7. Page 40 has a chart on all 1934 - 1940 Ford V8 carbs. with specifications for elevation jetting. You should buy the book. It is copyright so wont print it here. It was also in the Ford service bulletins. Regards, Kevin.

I had an old Harley with an adjustable jet Bendix carb. It was always requiring adjustments. It didn't take me long to deep six that boat anchor and put a fixed jet type back on.

![]() According to my Holley manual, the Holley/Ford 94 type carb main jet sizes change 2 sizes for every 5,000 feet of elevation. So say your carb has a #50 main jet. That would be used for sea level thru 5000 feet. #48 would be used for 5000 to 10000 feet, and #46 for above 10000 feet. Sal |
