i am getting to do the cut outs on my floorboards as per the steve watrous plans. they are very easy to work with except for a couple of questions. on the upper front section the depth for the clutch and brake pedals is not given, i assume it to be 2" or the same as the first bolt holes??? what is the a a section the 7/8" hole in it? it looks to be a curved relief from the bottom side, but i can't figure the purpose.

I have cut a couple of sets and assumed 2" as well and they worked out fine.
The A-A 7/8" hole is for the accelerator. The relief under it is for clearance for the mechanism. I cut these by using a table saw and doing several cuts with the blade height set at 3/8" to give the curved relief and then cleaning up with a chisel. One other thing I would mention is that I ended up making the bigger floor piece a little wider on mine to give a little more meat around the screw holes(maybe 1/8"). Double check your subframe before doing this and make sure you will still have room for the fabric edging. Good luck! Jerry |

Also, if you are being authentic, the straight side cuts for the battery opening were made with a circle caw, so the cuts extend beyond the rounded ends.

I never use the term "Skil Saw" since that is the brand name.
A circular saw can be a table saw, miter saw, radial arm saw, or hand held electric circle saw. I posted pictures of my original floorboards years ago, but it might take some searching to find them. |
