soooo still being new enough to the A engine, is there anything special you guys do for your first start up after shes been sitting all winter? I read someplace pull the distributor and pour oil down the hole to fill the gallery?

I just turn on the gas and step on the starter. If the charger hasn't been on anytime during the 6 months of road salt, then it wouldn't hurt to top up the charge by placing a 3 to 6 amp charger on it for a few hours.

I crank it a few revolutions with the ignition off just to get everything moving & lubricated at low rpm prior to starting.

allrighty that's kinda what I figured. ill put a few drops of fresh oil in the dist cup, and fire it up

Same as Tom. If it was running good when shutdown in the fall there's no reason it shouldn't start right up, unless mice chewed the wiring or some other oddball thing happened over the winter.

well no I get all that. I was just thinking because it wasn't a preasure oiling system, that maybe it needed some special attention after the winters rest, to get oil up to first off. I did read someplace guys pour oil down the dist hole to fill the top oiling gallery?

You sure could pull the distributor and pour some oil in there to refill the gallery....wouldn't hurt.

I hand cranked mine a few times to make sure there was no hydraulic lock, then cranked it with the starter with the fuel and ignition off hoping to pump some oil into the valve gallery, then turned everything on and it started fine.....
