Does the wood windshield header have any attachment to the wood headers above the doors on a 30 std. coupe? My header was rotted and the ends of the wood above the doors were a little soft on the ends, so I can't tell if they ever were attached to the header.
Thanks Bob Update, I saw a picture on Vince Falters Ford Garage, and it looks like the end of the wood rail above the doors goes through the slot in the header? I think there is more wood gone on my door rails than I thought, as mine are too short to go through the header. Last edited by Bob/Ohio; 03-18-2017 at 10:09 PM. |

Yes, that is a good shot of the wood in question in Vince's site.

As well as the tongue & groove (slot) you refer to on the ends of the header, there is a metal bracket which ties both the roof rail, the wood over the door and the header all together.

Thanks for the picture! Now I have 2 questions. Is the bracket show in your picture suppost to be between the wood header and the steel frame? Mine bracket is on the backside of the steel frame (inside the car)? Do the side rails just slip through the header and thats it? ( no srews or glue) Thanks again Bob |
